MUB - Base universal superior
The “MUB” Multisize upper basement is the outcome of innovation and research undertaken to offer the most flexible and varied manufacturing solutions for the ceramics industry.
The possibility of using the “MUB” with the universal basement means that one can limit the supply of the die just to the format parts, i.e. the format kit, with considerable
advantages in terms of management and savings
One can use it for any kind of die. The MUB can be used not only to host the proper upper SFS kit, but also as a upper magnetic plate for entering, semi-entering and mirror punch dies.
Cutting die purchasing costs. With this solution instead of the traditional upper basement, it will be supported only the kit for upper forming die set “SFS”.
Simplifying and cutting down changing size time while fully complying with safety regulations. When you use the “MUB”, format change simply consists of replacing the die box and the upper punches: this gives obvious advantages during the Kit handling phase, making it possible to undertake this operation on the front side of the press. With this solution, it will no longer be necessary to shift the rear filler box.
Other technical features. To further underline the versatility of the “MUB”, we also remind you that it is provided with two beams with permanent magnets which allow very quick and solid connection of the top box.
The ejection block with a magnetic fixing of the upper punches can host a different range of size, usually from 150 - 430 mm and from 450 - 650 mm. To use it as a upper magnetic plate, it can also be mechanically bound by screws to the top hydraulic plate in order to use it with entering, semi-entering and mirror punch die set.
Lower universal basement
The lower universal basement has countless advantages: this device can be installed either on the press basement, in case of traditional lifting device, or else directly on the SPE of the press, thus becoming a full part of it.

This implies a major reduction in the weight and volume of the parts to be moved. Also, using systems dedicated to moving and lifting, one can effect the format change on the front side of the press, thus avoiding the difficult shifting of the filler box on the back side.
The basement may come with two different configurations: one version with electromagnetic ejection block and one with permanent magnets. To set the die box in place, one can use a configuration with stiff matrix supports for use with entering punch dies, or a configuration with mobile matrix for SFS upper forming die set, mirror dies and semientering dies.
Entry punch mould
This die is suitable for traditional manufacture of double-fired and single fired tiles and porcelain tiles production. Its low cost and ease of use justify its widespread use. The visible side, generally pointing downward, may be a limit to its use, especially when used with deeply structured surfaces.
With the visible side up, tiles are produced without a spacer and with high quality surface. This is especially suited for molding large and thick formats.
Mirror dies are also suggested for the first station in double pressing production. The mobile die box and the presence of pushers ensure perfect de-airing and long duration.
SFS - Upper forming die set
The SFS die is the only one which allows the production of tiles with the visible side pressed up and the simultaneous presence of the spacer.
This feature allows one to move the tile from the die without damage or scratches on the visible side.
This machine has a high technological content, since it is equipped with double acting hydraulic movement guaranteeing the best quality level of the product, even when there are especially deep or defined structured surfaces.
It is suited to every kind of product which needs a high quality of the finished item, and is irreplaceable in double filling manufacturing technologies.
The philosophy which Sacmi Molds & Dies has been suggesting for some years for large new generation dies also finds its natural application in the dies for special tiles, little jewels which feature high complexity and high cost, compared to the natural surface being pressed.
