Floating Module

Floating Module / Monocaliber Isostatic Plate

The floating modules are passive systems designed to balance the average force bearing down on each cavity of the die. These devices owe their name to the fact that the supports of the forming punches "float" on oil. Regardless of the quantity of spray-dried powder and grain size of the material in each cavity, during pressing, a spontaneous transfer of the oil takes place from the cavity where the pressure tries to rise towards cavities with a lower pressure. The result is an unprecedented degree of uniformity of the average density of the pressed material between the cavities and therefore an even level of shrinkage during firing leading to a reduction or even elimination of sorting grades.
