OUR HISTORY
Towards the end of the 1940s SACMI began constructing presses for the manufacture of tiles and, with these, the first die-sets which, from simple mechanical components soon developed into the most important piece of equipment in the forming process.
In the early days ceramic companies were organized with internal factory floors but they soon started to outsource work encouraging the growth of more efficient and specialized die-set manufacturers.
This is how the company, which would become known as SACMI Molds & Dies from 2001 onwards, first started business back in the 1960s, at its base in Via Bottego. If, over the years, thousands of presses left the parent company in Imola, tens of thousands of die-sets, punches and other spare parts were made at the Sassuolo-based factory which, since the 1990s, has occupied an area of more than 20,000 sq.m at its headquarters in Via Emilia Romagna.
